Our organization is globally distributed as well as divided into different operation areas. Therefore, we use different site collections for corresponding data management and news distribution. Currently, we use target audiences to show and hide news posts from different sources. However, users want more control over what data source is shown to them individually.

A very simple way to achieve this would be to point users to the "Follow site" feature. Once they are following sites, it would be perfect to optionally only have News from those sources shown within the News Webpart. This feature would support our overall news distribution model and make it more personal.
